Canada Mayflower

(Maianthemum canadense)

Canada mayflower is a small plant that grows all over the United States and Canada, from British Columbia to Nebraska, and along the Appalachian mountains, a mountain range stretching from Maine to northern Georgia.

Canada mayflower is very small, generally not growing any taller than a mere 2.5 inches off the ground, but if you look closely at the bottom of pine trees or other needle trees you just might spot these little plants. They flower in late spring to early summer. If you look very closely you might even see the tiny berries these plants produce, which are red.
